LeSean McCoy has blown a significant hole in his finances after losing a bet that he placed on the outcome of Devin Haney’s fight with Ryan Garcia. The Super Bowl-winning running back put a quarter of a million on the former winning. But in a majority decision, Garcia was declared the winner, causing the Eagles icon to forget his wager.
Before the match began, LeSean McCoy posted cheering Devin Haney on. But by the end of the spectacle, it had turned to despair.

But despite Ryan Garcia’s win, the former NFL player seemed happy to take the blame quite jovially instead of blaming anyone else. He wrote on X,
“lol damn win some lose some I just got cooooked”
LeSean McCoy might have lost the Ryan Garcia-Devin Haney wager but he has won some before
LeSean McCoy’s reaction to losing the money might have surprised some. But as a player who takes an interest in placing bets, he is right that there is always a chance of winning some and losing some.
And while he has lost in a sport outside the NFL, the professional football world has rewarded him handsomely this year. During the Super Bowl between the Kansas City Chiefs and the San Francisco 49ers, he bet on the former with a solid bit of reasoning. He said,
“I’m gonna say the same thing I’ve been telling everybody for the last three weeks. The Bills should beat the Chiefs. The Ravens should beat the Chiefs. The Niners should beat the Chiefs. All better teams. But you never bet against Tom Brady and Bill Belichick. In this era, you never bet against Andy Reid and Patrick Mahomes. I’m putting $100,000 grand on it. The last three Super Bowls I have hit.”
And, of course, Patrick Mahomes and Andy Reid did not let him down as the Chiefs vanquished the 49ers in an epic tussle that went all the way down to the wire, before overtime finally settled it.
And therefore, even though LeSean McCoy might have lost the bet on Devin Haney after Ryan Garcia beat him, the running back knows that smarter bets can help him recover that back.
With Kansas City aiming for a three-peat of Super Bowls, he might again get the chance to root for them and win a wager. While there is no certainty if that will happen, we now know from experience that it would be foolhardy to bet against that possibility.
