Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) will take on Rajasthan Royals (RR) at Bharat Ratna Shri Atal Bihari Vajpayee Ekana Cricket Stadium on Saturday, April 27, in match number 44 of the ongoing IPL 2024.
It will be an evening game that kicks off at 7:30 pm IST. Lucknow have the momentum on their side, having beaten defending champions Chennai Super Kings (CSK) two times in a row in their previous two matches.
The KL Rahul-led side are currently placed fourth in the points table. They have five wins to their name from eight games. They have a chance of climbing to the second spot by trumping Rajasthan in the forthcoming clash.
Sanju Samson‘s RR have enjoyed an imperious run in IPL 2024 so far. With seven victories from eight outings, they are comfortably placed at the top of the points table.
Rajasthan claimed a 20-run win when the two teams met earlier in the tournament, successfully defending a 194-run target at Sawai Mansingh Stadium. Lucknow will hope to turn things around at their home ground this time around.
Much to the delight of the fans, an uninterrupted contest between LSG and RR is on the cards. According to AccuWeather, conditions are expected to be mostly cloudy in Lucknow during the game. However, there is no prediction for rain.
The temperatures are likely to hover between 31 and 34 degrees Celsius. The humidity could reach 28 per cent during the final hour.
“We will have a final test ahead of the game” – LSG assistant coach on Mayank Yadav’s availability for IPL 2024 match vs RR
LSG’s tearaway speedster Mayank Yadav made headlines with back-to-back three-wicket hauls in his first two outings. He also clocked 156.7 kmph against Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB), which is the fastest ball of the season as well.
However, the youngster walked off the field after blowing just one over in the subsequent match against Gujarat Titans (GT) due to abdominal issues and has been on the sidelines ever since.
LSG’s assistant coach Sridharan Sriraman provided an update regarding Mayank’s availability for the upcoming game. He said at the pre-match press conference:
“He is bowling today and looks fit, but we will have a final test ahead of the game tomorrow then only we will take a call on his participation against RR. He is a terrific talent and from the place he comes, he knows very well what to do and what not to.
“The quality he has with his length is not inferior to others in this seasonâs IPL and with that pace, it is very hard to play shots against him, and that is what makes him special.”
LSG beat CSK by six wickets in their last appearance. They chased down a stiff 211-run target at MA Chidambaram Stadium, courtesy of Marcus Stoinis‘ unbeaten 124 off 63 balls.
