Ivar was written off TV after this week’s episode of WWE NXT following a backstage attack from Gallus. Dave Meltzer played down the legitimacy of the Viking Raider’s spell on the sidelines.
However, Ivar has updated fans on the situation and insisted he has sustained a serious injury.
“There has been alot of misinformation floating around about me. Let me clarify: Yes I am injured. Yes it is very serious. No I have not had surgery. Still trying to figure out all options and what this means for my future. Continued…” he wrote.
Meltzer claimed on the Wrestling Observer Newsletter that the 40-year-old was being given time off TV. He reported that this was because the veteran star had been working so hard but that doesn’t appear to be the case.
Ivar‘s previous absence from TV came in 2020 when he required double fusion neck surgery. His tag team partner Erik underwent the same procedure last year and both are now out of action.
Erik responded to his friend’s post with an uplifting message:
“Love you, Ivar. Neither of us were ever supposed to make it this far. You’ll beat this one too. And the Raid will return with a brand new bad. Viking Strong!!”
The former WWE RAW Tag Team Champion had impressed in singles competition during Erik’s absence. He was involved in the Intercontinental Championship picture following WrestleMania XL and headed to NXT last month.
WWE star Ivar’s in-ring career could be coming to an end
Ivar’s latest injury setback could be hugely problematic.
Sean Ross Sapp of Fightful Select reports that he’s been wrestling on borrowed time due to his double fusion surgery:
“Regarding reports that Ivar’s injury is a work, we’re told that isn’t true whatsoever. The severity of the injury isn’t known as of yet, but we’re told (he’s) long wrestled as if he’s on borrowed time after his double fusion surgery.” [H/T Cageside Seats]
It would be a devastating time and way for his career to end as he was catching the eye in singles action. Triple H has yet to properly book The Viking Raider in the new era of WWE programming. He has 20 years of pro wrestling experience, so a potential job such as producing isn’t beyond possibility.
Fans will have to wait and see what the future holds for him and his tag partner Erik. The latter has been out of action since September 2023, but in positive news, his partner Valhalla (Sarah Logan) is expecting their second child.
