Servette and Young Boys go head-to-head at the Stade de Genéve in the penultimate round of the 2023-24 Swiss Super League campaign on Monday. Patrick Rahmen’s men will head into the game looking to pick up a third home win on the bounce and rekindle their late bid for UEFA Champions League qualification.
Servette’s bid for a Champions League playoff spot suffered a huge setback on Wednesday when they fell to a 2-1 defeat against FC Zurich at the Stadion Letzigrund.
Before that, Rene Weiler’s men were on a four-game unbeaten run, claiming one draw and three wins, including a 1-0 victory over Winterthur in the Swiss Cup semi-finals on April 28.
With 61 points from 33 matches, Servette are currently third in the Super League table, four points behind second-placed Lugano in the second Champions League playoff spot.
Young Boys, on the other hand, returned to winning ways in midweek when they cruised to a 3-1 victory over St. Gallen at the Wankdorf Stadium.
This followed a 1-0 defeat against Lugano on May 11 which saw their seven-game unbeaten run across all competitions come to an end.
Young Boys currently sit at the top of the league table with 71 points from 36 matches and need a draw on Monday to be confirmed champions as they boast a six-point lead over second-placed Lugano with a +19 goal difference.
