Damage CTRL’s IYO SKY has given herself a new nickname ahead of tonight’s edition of WWE RAW in North Carolina. The 34-year-old will be competing against Lyra Valkyria tonight in the Queen of the Ring Tournament.
Bayley defeated SKY to capture the WWE Women’s Championship at WrestleMania XL, but The Genius of the SKY has rebounded well from the loss. She has the chance to make it to the final of the QOTR Tournament if she can defeat Valkyria tonight on the red brand. Ahead of tonight’s show, SKY gave herself a new nickname. The former champion referred to herself as “Queen of the SKY” as seen in her post below.
IYO SKY’s stablemate in Damage CTRL, Asuka, was also supposed to compete in the QOTR Tournament this year but was removed due to injury. She was replaced by Dakota Kai who was defeated by Valkyria in her main roster debut, in the very first round of the tournament.
WWE RAW star Gunther names IYO SKY as a potential Imperium member
Gunther recently named a couple of female WWE Superstars who could be a potential fit in the Imperium faction.
The Ring General lost the Intercontinental Championship to Sami Zayn at WrestleMania XL last month in Philadelphia. He has been dominant so far in the KOTR Tournament and will be facing Jey Uso later tonight in the semifinal.
The winner of the match will move on to the final of the tournament at the premium live event this Saturday in Saudi Arabia. In an exclusive interview with Riju Dasgupta of Sportskeeda Wrestling, Gunther named Charlotte Flair and IYO SKY as two female stars that could be a part of Imperium.
“We get asked often if we want additional members or something. I think no, we’re good how we are. I think if we have to choose someone I think it would either be IYO or Charlotte, I would think,” said Gunther. [2:51 – 3:10]
