Ever since she started her WNBA career, Caitlin Clark has been a hot topic among fans and analysts. The Indiana Fever’s rookie entered the league carrying high expectations, a factor that might have played a notable role in how she’s perceived by her peers.
Rapper Flavor Flav joined FanDuel’s Run It Back show today, where he discussed the ongoing situation regarding Caitlin Clark. He discussed the way she’s seen by her colleagues and the snub from the Summer Games roster.
“When it comes down to Caitlin Clark. First of all, let me tell you something: [she is] the best that did it! She’s set records, she broke records. That girl is a beast. You got so many girls in the league right now that are so jealous of her. Come on, let the girl live, let the girl breathe. I wanna go see her play one day,” Flav said after Shams Charania asked if Clark deserved a spot on the Olympic roster.
Just like Flav, many people think Clark is being mistreated by her colleagues, including Charles Barkley and LeBron James. The 22-year-old has tried to shake this off and have a mature response to these situations. But fans and analysts are noting that some opponents go extra when they see Clark on the court.
Caitlin Clark could still make the team down the road as an alternate. But the reactions show that a lot of people wanted her on the team since the beginning and not as a substitute.
Caitlin Clark shares her thoughts on potential late invitation to play for Team USA
Clark remains an option for USA Basketball this summer, and she’s aware of that. Speaking about this possibility, the point guard told reporters that her focus is on the Indiana Fever. She also praised the 12 players who reportedly made the cut.
“I think it would be a great opportunity but a lot of ifs. My main focus is on the Fever. If USA Basketball needs something, I have a great relationship with them. The 12 that are selected are really great players, so they are really good hands. So (for me) it’s just focus on the Fever,” Clark told reporters.
Caitlin Clark and the Fever are still trying to get better this season. Some think the Olympic pause can be a positive for the young star, but a group of fans are convinced she deserves a spot on the team that’s going to Paris.
