Walker Buehler made his much anticipated MLB return for the Los Angeles Dodgers this season after nearly missing two years of action. However, things have not gone as planned for the All-Star ace.
Buehler returned to the mound for the first time in nearly two years against the Miami Marlins on May 7. But the 2020 World Series winner’s return to action has been marred with inconsistency.
During his most recent outing against the Colorado Rockies on Tuesday, Buehler went four innings long, allowing seven earned runs on seven hits while striking out two hitters.

Buehler seemed deflated after the outing despite the Dodgers registering a dramatic win. He contemplated taking a break and working on his mechanics.
“We’ve thought about taking a blow. Taking a month off, taking a week off,” Buehler said.
“Trying to figure out how to get me reset. And maybe that’s coming, maybe not. I don’t know. We’ll see. It s**ks to feel invaluable or like you’re hampering your team.”
During the game, Walker Buehler was hit in the hip by a comebacker, and Dodgers manager Dave Roberts was concerned for his ace pitcher, hinting at a possible IL stint.
Dodgers complete remarkable turnaround despite Walker Buehler’s horrid night
Walker Buehler allowed seven earned runs on the night, handing the Colorado Rockies a substantial lead in the game. However, a remarkable end to the game saw the Dodgers come back from the dead.
The Dodgers trailed 9-5 heading into the top of the ninth inning. However, Jason Heyward continued his hitting form against the Rockies with a grand slam to put the Dodgers just one run behind their opponents.
Meanwhile, All-Star outfielder Teoscar Hernandez showcased his importance to the Dodgers lineup once again with a three-run homer to follow Heyward’s grand slam. It was his 18th home run of the season, and only Shohei Ohtani has got more home runs for the Dodgers this season.
Hernandez’s go-ahead home run also set a remarkable MLB feat, as this was the first time a team trailing in the game registered a grand slam and a three-run homer in the ninth inning. Dave Roberts’ team are on a three-game winning streak and will look to extend it with a series-clinching win against the Rockies on Wednesday.
