Masked gang ransack shopping centre stores in raid
Masked armed robbers targeted two jewellery and watch stores in a Leeds shopping centre.
The robbers, who wore black balaclavas, brandished axes and a circular saw as they ransacked the Beaverbrooks and Tag Heuer stores in the White Rose shopping centre on Wednesday evening.
The attackers were believed to have stormed the stores, smashed display cases and then fled the scene before the shops were due to close at 21:00 BST.
It is not yet known whether anyone was injured in the incident.
West Yorkshire Police has been contacted for more information.
A spokesperson for the Beaverbrooks and TAG Heuer stores said: “We can confirm that there was an incident at our TAG Heuer boutique in White Rose Shopping Centre on the evening of Wednesday 26 June and the boutique is now temporarily closed.
“We are doing everything possible to assist the police in their investigation as well as providing support for our colleagues at the boutique.”
The spokesperson apologised to customers for any inconveniences caused.
