Zara Aleena killer in court over prison relationship
The man who murdered Zara Aleena has appeared in court over an alleged inappropriate relationship with a prison workshop instructor.
Jordan McSweeney is serving a minimum prison term of 33 years for the killing and sexual assault of the 35-year-old law graduate in Ilford in June 2022.
McSweeney has been charged with encouraging or assisting the commission of an indictable offence.
He appeared at Wimbledon Magistrates’ Court on Wednesday alongside Hayley Jones, who is accused of misconduct in public office.
The charges against Ms Jones, 33, from Strood in Medway, Kent, relate to an alleged inappropriate relationship with McSweeney between 6 March and 7 April 2023 at HMP Belmarsh.
