Hundreds of soldiers have been put through their paces in the Galloway Forest.

It is part of a wider two-week training operation known as Hector’s Storm.

The Royal Regiment of Scotland – the Scottish division of the British Army – has spent two days sleeping outdoors, surviving on rations and taking part in rural combat exercises.

The forest’s woodlands and terrain made an “ideal training ground” to ensure they are prepared for deployment in various environments abroad.
