When Khalil Rountree Jr. opened up about his love for hardcore music
In 2021, Khalil Rountree Jr. opened up about his love for hardcore music and outlined how he’s drawn to music that allows him to connect with the subcultures that seek to defy what’s widely considered normal.
During an interview, ‘The War Horse’ opened up about the joy of participating in hardcore shows and indulging in the mosh pit culture. Detailing the feeling of being “accepted” by the crowd, he said:
“Weād leave hardcore shows with our bodies aching, ears ringing but so happy. A different type of happy, like an emotional release that I couldnāt find anywhere else. Especially because Iām such a quiet guy and always have been. I donāt raise my voice or scream, even when Iām mad, but at shows, I am different. It was accepted, and thatās what drew me in.ā
Given his love for music, Rountree Jr. recalled how it wasn’t surprising for him to jump on stage for an impromptu performance for Terror. Pointing out that he was visiting his hometown after ages, he said:
“Iāve seen Terror many times but never had the courage to take the mic from Vogel. But this time was different. I was back in my hometown after being away for a handful of years. I hadnāt been to a show in ages, and it was Terror. I mean, thatās it.” [H/t: No Echo]
