Investigation after dog attacks girl, 12, at house
Police forensics officers are examining a semi-detached house after a 12-year-old girl suffered life-changing injuries when she was attacked by a dog.
Police tape sealed off the raised walkway outside the house and lane running up the side of the house and garden on an estate in Nantyglo, in Blaenau Gwent on Tuesday morning.
Gwent Police were called to the scene following reports of the attack on Monday evening.
A 42-year-old woman and a man, both from the local area, have been arrested on suspicion of owning or possessing a dog bred for fighting and owning or possessing a dog dangerously out of control.
A Police Community Support Officer was guarding the scene and people living a few doors down said they were “shocked”.
The girl was taken to hospital after the attack, which occurred on The Crescent, Nantyglo, at about 17:50 BST on Monday.
Gwent Police said that the dog has been seized by officers and would be destroyed, adding that no other animals were involved in the attack.
The force added that there was no further risk to the public.
