Wales striker Kieffer Moore believes the first half against Iceland on Friday showed everything they are trying to achieve under new manager Craig Bellamy.
Goals from Brennan Johnson and Harry Wilson capped a dominant opening period for Wales in the Nations League game in Reykjavik.
The second half was in stark contrast, as Wales crumbled to allow the hosts to come back to make it 2-2 and were perhaps fortunate to escape with a draw after Iceland hit the post late on.
âFirst half it showed what weâre about and what weâre working on. Everything came off and that was our identity â thatâs how we should play,â said Moore, who led the line in Reykjavik.
âSecond half we just lost a little bit of it. Iceland are no mugs. Theyâre a good team and when you give a team like that a foothold in the game they can take advantage, which is obviously what they did.
âBut a point away from home is still a good result and we remain unbeaten.â
Despite letting slip a lead that would have seen Wales top Group B4, they remain unbeaten under Bellamy following an opening draw with Turkey and 2-1 win in Montenegro in September.
The reverse fixture against Montenegro comes on Monday at Cardiff City Stadium, with Moore keen for Wales to put into practice the lessons learned.
âYou can get exposed and itâs a good learning curve for us,â said the 32-year-old Sheffield United forward.
âWeâre all new to this system and for us to be dealt with something like that â when they go man for man second half â is something we can learn from.
âIt was understanding where our free player was and we couldnât really find him. Weâll look back at the footage where we went wrong and can improve on it.
âIn the whole of scheme weâre grateful to get a point. Weâll all remain positive because there are no easy places away from home and weâll take that point.â

Wales will be without Tottenham Hotspur forward Johnson and Rennes midfielder Jordan James against Montenegro due to suspension, after they picked up their second bookings of the campaign against Iceland.
Johnson, who has scored seven goals in seven games for club and country, was taken off at half-time after taking a knock during the first half and was replaced by Ipswich Townâs Wes Burns.
âWeâre without players on Monday but itâs a squad game and weâve got some really good players to come in. Iâm sure theyâll take their chances when they get them,â Moore added.
âWeâve scored four goals away from home and thatâs what weâre about. Weâre a high-press, high-attacking team and when we do get those chances in that style of play itâs exciting. It gets people on their feet but sometimes it can work against you as well.
âItâs [top spot] still in our hands. Weâre still unbeaten and we look forward to Monday.â
