Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola reportedly wants to bring Bayern Munich attacker Jamal Musiala to the Etihad Stadium. According to El Nacional, this is the condition that the Spaniard has set if he is to continue with the Cityzens beyond the summer of 2025.
There was speculation around the former Barcelona coach’s future, with reports linking him to the England men’s national team job. However, Thomas Tuchel has been announced to take over The Three Lions’ squad from 2025, which means Guardiola could continue in Manchester.
However, it seems as though the 53-year-old wants a new long-term prospect, and he’s singled out the aforementioned Germany international for this job. Musiala, who often occupies the number 10 space in midfield, can also operate on the flanks.
With Kevin De Bruyne’s contract at Manchester City also running out in 2025, it seems like there’s room for a new midfield talisman. Musiala is a young and exciting talent, who is tied down at the Allianz Arena till the summer of 2026.
Therefore, he will only have a year left on his deal if the Cityzens are to pursue him in 2025. If Musiala chooses to move, Bayern Munich would much rather sell him in 2025 rather than lose him for free in the following year.
To date, Musiala has made 171 appearances across competitions for his Bavarian employers, bagging 46 goals and 34 assists in the process. He’s won the Bundesliga title four times and the UEFA Champions League once, among other honors.
Manchester City considering Xabi Alonso and one other coach to replace Pep Guardiola at the Etihad- Reports
Manchester City are reportedly considering Xabi Alonso as the man to replace Pep Guardiola if the latter decides to leave at the end of his contract in 2025. This is according to a report from The Athletic, which claims that Sporting manager Ruben Amorim is another name being discussed at the Etiahad (via Express).
Alonso had been linked to the Liverpool job this summer after his incredible season with Bayer Leverkusen last year. However, he decided to remain with the German outfit, and Arne Slot took over from the departing Jurgen Klopp at Anfield.
The 42-year-old led Bayer Leverkusen to the Bundesliga title last year, finishing the season unbeaten and also winning the DFB Pokal. His contract at the Bay Arena runs out in 2026.
Alonso could be taking over from an iconic figure in Guardiola, who has delivered six Premier League titles and a UEFA Champions League at Manchester City.
