The 2024-25 NBA season commenced with the New York Knicks vs the Boston Celtics on Tuesday night. The Celtics have a home-court advantage over the Knicks. Considering that their inaugural face-off of the season is also Boston’s ring night, the Celtics will do everything they can to win.

Jayson Tatum had a hot start in the first quarter. He scored 15 points and shot 5 out of 7 from the field. Tatum’s efforts helped the Celtics secure a 43-24 lead.

The highest-scoring Knicks player in the first quarter was Jalen Brunson, who only put up 6 points. However, it’s worth noting that Brunson didn’t miss a shot so far. This could lead to a great shooting performance later in the game.

The Boston Celtics managed to maintain their lead in the second quarter. Heading into halftime, Boston secured a 74-55 lead. Jayson Tatum continued his scoring assault, ending the second quarter with a total of 25 points.

As the third quarter commenced, the Celtics continued their scoring assault by unleashing a barrage of three-pointers. The Knicks struggled to respond and could barely get a shot to go in. On top of New York’s struggle, Boston continued to pressure their adversaries with solid defense.

Towards the middle of the third quarter, Boston secured their biggest lead of the night with a 29-point deficit. This was thanks to their scorching hot performance from beyond the arc. The Celtics drained 7 out of 8 long-distance shots to secure a 99-70 lead with 5:26 remaining in the third.

Despite his first-half struggle, Mikal Bridges found his rhythm in the third. He made 12 points, including a couple of three-point shots to keep up with the Celtics’ remarkable shooting. Ultimately, the Celtics were too much for the Knicks as Boston secured an overwhelming 132-109 victory.

It was a statement game for the Celtics as they showed the basketball world why they were crowned the champions last season.
