Michigan quarterback Jack Tuttle has announced his retirement from football after experiencing multiple concussions and other health challenges. In an Instagram post on Monday, Tuttle disclosed that he recently sustained the fifth concussion of his collegiate career, which made him decide to halt playing.
“Today, I am announcing my retirement from college football. This decision, though difficult, comes after deep reflection and heartfelt conversations with my family, doctors, and loved ones,” the post reads in part.”
“The recent experience of enduring my fifth concussion has brought forth the painful truth: that I need to start prioritizing my health. Throughout my college career, I’ve battled numerous injuries, culminating in this difficult choice to step away from playing the game that I love.”

Jack Tuttle grateful for his experience in college football
Rounding up his heartfelt message on Instagram, Jack Tuttle expressed his appreciation for his years and beautiful experience in college football. The quarterback started his college career at Utah in 2018 before transferring to Indiana in 2019 and finally ending up at Michigan.
“College football has given me a bunch of memories in my life with amazing people, and it has shaped my character,” Tuttle wrote. “I am immeasurably thankful for every chance I’ve had to step onto the field and for the unwavering support of those who have stood by me throughout triumphs and tribulations.”
“I want to thank Coach Moore, the staff and my teammates – I love all of you guys. I will continue to help Team 145 as we prepare for the rest of the season.”
Tuttle’s final game in college football came earlier this month on Oct. 19, when he started for Michigan in a 21-7 loss to Illinois. During the matchup against the Fighting Illini, he completed 20 of 32 passes for 208 yards, threw one interception, and was sacked five times.
Overall in his injury-plagued college career, Jack Tuttle appeared in 23 games, starting six of them. He threw for 1,337 yards and seven touchdowns with a 59.8% pass completion. The quarterback plans to pursue a coaching career following his retirement.
