Fans on social media reacted to Tom Kim’s reported angry behavior after losing in a playoff at the 2024 Genesis Championship. The South Korean golfer competed at the recently concluded DP World Tour event and was tied for the lead after four rounds with fellow countryman Byeong Hun An.
They headed into a playoff, where Hun An made a birdie and won the tournament. Meanwhile, Tom Kim settled for solo second place. He congratulated Hun An on his victory and later headed to the locker room, where he reportedly broke a door, as per Yonhap News Agency.
Flushing It Golf shared the news on its X (formerly Twitter) account.
Fans in the comment section expressed frustration over Tom Kim’s behavior and wrote:
“Loser mentality, he is what he is. A loser,” a fan wrote.
“Grow up,” another fan commented.
Some even seemed to take a jab at the golfer, suggesting he should “clean up the locker room.”
“Make him clean up the locker room at the end of the round next tournament,” another fan wrote.
“Tom has proven himself to be a big baby,” one more jotted.

According to Yonhap News Agency, the KPGA Tour has reportedly imposed fines on the player for repairs and is also considering disciplinary action against him.
Tom Kim had damaged the greens at the FedEx Cup playoffs in frustration
This is not the first time Tom Kim has made headlines for his frustration. Earlier this year in August, during the first FedEx Cup playoffs, the St. Jude Championship, the South Korean golfer missed a putt and, in frustration, damaged the greens.
Fans were critical of his behavior, but the 22-year-old later released an apology for his actions on his Instagram account. He said (via Golf Monthly):
“Hi everyone. It’s been brought to my attention about my frustration shown yesterday on the 12th green. I will never lie to my peers and fans because I have too much respect and gratitude towards them. I wasn’t aware that I had made that big of a damage on the green ’cause, if I did, I would’ve never just left without repairing it. But I was clearly wrong and will take full responsibility of my actions and will be better going forward. Thank you and I apologize again and thank you for your support throughout a tough year,” he said.
Tom Kim has had a decent season this year. However, this marks the second time he has lost in a playoff. At the 2024 Travelers Championship, he lost to Scottie Scheffler in a playoff.
However, he has also recorded some impressive finishes this season. Kim was tied for 17th at the WM Phoenix Open, T18 at the RBC Heritage, T4 at the RBC Canadian Open, and runner-up at the Travelers Championship. He also played at the Paris Olympics, finishing in eighth place.
