Anthony Davis won’t be in lineup against the Memphis Grizzlies on Wednesday night. The LA Lakers’ MVP candidate has dealt with multiple injuries over the past couple of games. Davis was on the injury report, citing a hip issue, but the latest ailment is a left heel contusion.
He suffered the injury during the Lakers’ 115-103 loss to the Detroit Pistons on Monday. Davis landed on his left heel in the last quarter, which triggered this injury. He limped due to the injury but remained optimistic before listing out against Memphis.
Davis has been dealing with the left ankle/heel issue since the summer and was managing it. However, landing on it mid-game aggravated the issue.

Anthony Davis Stats vs. Memphis Grizzlies
Anthony Davis has played 38 games against the Memphis Grizzlies, averaging 23.2 points, 11.4 rebounds and 2.9 blocks, shooting 49.6%. He was excellent in their season series last year, averaging 28.7 ppg, 10.3 rpg, 4.7 apg and 3.3 bpg in three games, shooting 56.4%. The Lakers won the matchup 2-1.
Davis has three 3-point outings in his past four games against Ja Morant and Co. Jaren Jackson Jr. and the Grizzlies frontcourt have had a tough time with this matchup, especially since the teams met in the 2023 NBA Playoffs, where Davis dominated the 2023 Defensive Player of the Year with ease on both ends.
The Lakers will hope Davis’ injury isn’t as serious and he can suit up again, especially after they dropped to 1-3 amid their five-game road trip after their loss to the Pistons.
With LeBron James struggling and the Lakers bench misfiring, Anthony Davis remains the key to the Lakers’ success. His league-high 32.6 points a night on 57.1% shooting with 11.6 rebounds have been largely responsible for LA’s 4-3 start.
