Bournemouth face off with Tottenham at the Vitality Stadium in a Premier League game this Thursday. Bournemouth come into this game in 13th place, with Tottenham currently sitting six spots above them in seventh.
Despite this, the truncated nature of the Premier League table right now means that the Cherries could leapfrog Spurs with a win here.
So, will the home team pull it off, or can Ange Postecoglou’s side produce another thrilling performance?
Bournemouth vs Tottenham Head-to-Head and Key Numbers
- Bournemouth’s record against Tottenham overall is a bad one in recent years. They have lost four of their last six meetings with Spurs, including both times they faced off last season. The only win they have over Tottenham since their promotion in 2022 came in April 2023, when Dominic Solanke – who now plays for Spurs – scored and assisted in a 2-3 win.
- Bournemouth are coming into this game on the back of an impressive 2-4 away win over Wolves. The match saw Justin Kluivert score a hat-trick of penalties, becoming the first player to do so in the Premier League era.
- Tottenham’s last game saw them draw 1-1 with Fulham in a slightly disappointing showing. However, the game did break a streak of alternating wins and losses in the Premier League that dated back to September 29’s win over Manchester United and took in seven matches.
- Despite their inconsistent form throughout the current campaign, Tottenham remain the Premier League’s highest-scoring side, racking up a strong number of 28 goals to date. They also have the third-best defensive record in the league, too.
- Bournemouth’s home record is a relatively strong one this season. They have beaten reigning champions Manchester City and last season’s runners-up in Arsenal, and have also taken a point from Newcastle. Their only losses at the Vitality Stadium have come to Brighton and Chelsea.
Bournemouth vs Tottenham Prediction
Due to the unpredictable nature of both of these teams – particularly Tottenham – this game is a hard one to call.
If Ange Postecoglou’s side show up and produce their best, they are capable of wrecking any side in the Premier League, as they have done to Manchester City, Manchester United and Aston Villa this season.
However, Spurs are set to be without several first-team players for this match due to an injury crisis. Their fortunes here may hinge on the availability of former Bournemouth striker Dominic Solanke, who missed this weekend’s draw with Fulham due to illness.
Bournemouth, meanwhile, are coming off an impressive showing against Wolves, and Andoni Iraola’s side appear to be growing in confidence.
With all things considered, then, the prediction here is a home win with both teams scoring.
Prediction: Bournemouth 2-1 Tottenham
