Former WWE head writer Vince Russo recently lashed out at Triple H’s booking style ahead of Saturday Night’s Main Event. The historic show is set to take place on Saturday, December 14.
The go-home episode of RAW before Saturday Night’s Main Event was an important pit stop. The World Heavyweight Championship match had a major change as Damian Priest was also introduced into the equation making it a Triple Threat match featuring Priest, Gunther, and Finn Balor.
During this week’s episode of Sportskeeda Wrestling’s Legion of RAW podcast, Russo criticized the current booking regime under Triple H. He pointed out that the company was announcing last-minute bouts instead of planning matches and building up to them. The veteran writer believed this approach made the fans care less about the card for Saturday Night’s Main Event.
“Well, it’s a last minute sell into Saturday Night’s main event. Rather than have the matches booked a month ago and have angles and build towards those matches, of course, it’s the typical WWE Triple H booking. We’re gonna announce the matches five days before the event. At that point, who cares? You gotta build these matches, you gotta build these stories over time. You’re slapping matches on Saturday Night’s Main Event the last week. Who cares?” [From 3:40 onwards]
With less than a week to go for Saturday Night’s Main Event, only three matches are announced for the show.
It will be interesting to see if WWE sets up more encounters before the show this Saturday.
