Kevin Owens is scheduled to face Cody Rhodes for the Undisputed WWE Championship at Saturday Night’s Main Event. But before the special show, Owens confirmed that he wanted to face WWE Hall of Famer Ricky Steamboat, who last appeared on the company’s programming 2,118 days ago.
Owens finally snapped at Bad Blood when he attacked Cody Rhodes in the parking lot for teaming up with Roman Reigns. His anger and frustration forced him to take out Randy Orton while also recently warning Sami Zayn for aligning with Reigns at Survivor Series: WarGames 2024.
In an interview with Collider before Saturday’s spectacle, KO was asked to name the legends he would have loved to face at Saturday Night’s Main Event. His top answer was Ricky Steamboat, followed by Roddy Piper.
“Ricky Steamboat would have been pretty great. I think me, or anybody from this era, would have a fantastic match with him. ‘Rowdy’ Roddy Piper would’ve been incredible too. I wasn’t in a match with him, but he was the referee for one of my matches about 15 years ago, and just being around him for that little bit was pretty great,” Owens said.

Ricky Steamboat is one of the greatest wrestlers in history. He regularly featured on Saturday Night’s Main Event in the 1980s. Steamboat last appeared on WWE television on the February 25, 2019, episode of RAW during Ric Flair’s 70th birthday celebration. Meanwhile, the legend’s latest match took place on November 27, 2022, at BTW Return of the Dragon.
Kevin Owens shares his goals in WWE
In 10 years as a WWE Superstar, Kevin Owens has won it all, from a world title and mid-card title to tag team championships. However, Owens remains hungry and determined to achieve his goals in the company.
“I’d love to be world champion again. I’d love to main event WrestleMania Night Two since I’ve done Night One already. I’d love to have a match with Rey Mysterio. But if my career ends tomorrow, I’d still be happy with what I’ve done,” Owens told Collider.
Kevin Owens has a chance to come close to two of his goals on Saturday if he beats Cody Rhodes. Owens could win the Undisputed WWE Championship and subsequently headline WrestleMania 41 Night Two as SmackDown’s top titleholder.
