Conor McGregor recently expressed his excitement over the upcoming rematch between Oleksandr Usyk and Tyson Fury. Many in the combat sports community including McGregor are eager to find out who among the two will prevail in their highly anticipated heavyweight clash.
Fury is set to challenge Usyk for the WBC, WBO, and WBA world heavyweight titles in a rematch this weekend at Riyadh’s Kingdom Arena. Ahead of their fight, Saudi Arabia’s General Entertainment Authority chairman, Turki Alalshikh, known for providing fans with spectacular boxing contests in the past, took to X and released the Usyk vs. Fury fight promo.
McGregor, an avid boxing fan reposted Alalshikh’s X post, showing his excitement for the Usyk vs. Fury matchup. He wrote:
”Very excited for this rematch for all the heavyweight marbles in the world! Let’s go! #RiyadhSeason @Turki_alalshikh @Tyson_Fury @usykaa”

Fury was knocked down in the ninth round of their first title unification contest earlier this year, which marked the beginning of his downfall. Following 12 rounds of intense action, Usyk was declared the undisputed heavyweight champion after winning by split decision. This marked the Brit’s only loss in his professional boxing career.
Usyk became the first undisputed heavyweight champion since Lennox Lewis in 1999. However, the Ukrainian was obliged to relinquish the IBF title after failing to face the required challenger, the then-interim champion Daniel Dubois, who subsequently defeated former champion Anthony Joshua in September to become the new IBF champion.
As for McGregor, his last MMA outing came against Dustin Poirier at UFC 264 in 2021, where he broke his leg in the opening round. The Irishman was set to return at UFC 303 against Michael Chandler, however, a toe injury forced him to pull out from the welterweight contest.
Conor McGregor and his fiancée Dee Devlin enjoy a romantic evening together
Last month, Conor McGregor found himself in deep trouble after the civil court ruled him liable for assaulting Nikita Hand at a Dublin hotel in 2018. As a result, the court ordered McGregor to pay more than $250,000 in compensation. This led to him receiving a lot of criticism from the entire MMA community.
Despite the legal issues, McGregor’s fiancee Dee Devlin stood by him, expressing her support for her long-term partner. This was portrayed in her most recent Instagram post, in which Devlin is seen having a great time with McGregor. She wrote:
”Date night”
