Senedd to be recalled from recess for new first minister
Vaughan Gething has asked the Senedd to be recalled from its summer break on 6 August so Eluned Morgan can be confirmed as first minister.
The new Welsh Labour leader has to be installed via a roll call vote of Members of the Senedd before she takes up her job.
In a statement, he said he has written to the presiding officer to request the Senedd be recalled a week Tuesday.
Eluned Morgan, who was elected unopposed on Wednesday, will be the first woman in Wales to become first minister.
Mr Gething was forced out of his job last week after four senior members of his government all quit.
His time in office has been dogged by controversy over campaign donations and the sacking of a minister.
