Robert Kraft made headlines way back in 2019 when he revealed that he had become friends with then-President, Donald Trump, after the former president reached out to him following his wife’s death. With the November elections approaching, NFL fans are curious about which side of the political spectrum the New England Patriots owner aligns with and whether he identifies as a Republican.
In an appearance on “The Breakfast Club” podcast on Monday, Kraft, who is worth $11 billion (per Celebrity Net Worth), made his political views crystal clear.
“Let me just say I’m a Democrat,” Kraft said in the podcast. “I was head of the Democratic city committee in Brookline and Newton [Mass.]. And I ran Teddy Kennedy’s re-election campaign with a young man called Tommy O’Neill in Boston – who was [former House Speaker] Tip O’Neill’s son. And I’ve always been Democratic.”

Not only are his views left-leaning, but he was actively a part of the Democratic candidate’s re-election campaign. This left fans confused as he had earlier said that he was on good terms with the former president who is running for re-election in 2025.
Why did Robert Kraft end his friendship with Donald Trump?
The friendship between the Patriots owner and the former president began in the 90s and Donald Trump was one of the few people who reached out to Robert Kraft when his wife died.
“Donald Trump became a social friend in the early 90s when I was going down to Florida,” Kraft said (per the OutKick). “And then when my wife, her blessed memory, died 13 years ago, he was one of the four or five people that reached out to me and was really nice.”
Kraft even admitted to making a massive donation to him after he won the elections in 2016.
“The only donation I ever gave to him was when he called me when he got elected and I made a strong donation to his inauguration,” Kraft said. “I couldn’t believe it. It was like having someone who was a drunk fraternity brother become President of the United States.”
But after the January 6, Capitol Riots, the entire dynamic between the two changed and Robert Kraft revealed that he hadn’t spoken to him since then, bringing their friendship to an end.
“And, yeah, I think he did things. I mean, I’ll say this, I was very upset what happened on January 6th,” he added. “And I haven’t talked to him since then.”
Now we know who Robert Kraft would be casting his vote in favor of when the country goes to vote on November 20.
