Outside of his impressive play on the basketball court, one thing that has made Anthony Edwards such a massive fan favorite is his personality. The All-Star guard’s latest antics on the court had fans rolling over with laughter.
On Sunday, the Minnesota Timberwolves traveled to Madison Square Garden to take on the New York Knicks. This game would catch the attention of many due to the recent blockbuster trade for Karl-Anthony Towns.
In the midst of the game, the Knicks’ other new addition, Mikal Bridges, went to the line to shoot free-throws. After missing the first attempt, Anthony Edwards made a NSFW remark about Bridges’ new shooting mechanics.

As this soundbite started making rounds on social media, fans poured in to share their thoughts on Edwards chirping at Bridges mid-game.
Other fans were excited to see that Edwards is already prepared from a trash talking standpoint heading into the regular season.
“AE on timing already,” one fan said.
“nah it’s static but I’m coming around to brody,” another fan said.
“Anthony Edwards really couldn’t hold back with that one! His trash talk game is as strong as his play on the court!” Said one fan.
Edwards had a big game against the Knicks, erupting for 31 points. However, the Timberwolves would still go on to lose by a final score of 115-110.
Anthony Edwards makes interesting comment following Timberwolves preseason loss to Knicks
Before the KAT trade caught many people in and around the NBA by surprise, he and Anthony Edwards were the two key building blocks for the Timberwolves. Following a preseason game, he had an interesting remark to a fan’s plea.
During their time as teammates, Edwards and Towns built a strong bond as a pair of No. 1 picks. After the final buzzer sounded, the now-former teammates met to exchange jerseys and shoes.
As Edwards and Towns were wrapping up, one Knicks fan told Anthony Edwards he needs to join the Knicks when his contract is up. Edwards responded by saying he’d love to be reunited with KAT.
It’s worth mentioning that it’s going to be quite some time before Edwards can hit the open market. This season will begin the five-year, $244.6 million extension he signed in the summer of 2023. The deal also has no early opt-outs, so Edwards is locked in with the Timberwolves through the 2028-29 season.
With Towns being traded, Edwards is now the only player with star power the Timberwolves. Coming off a career year, he’ll be called upon to lead the charge for Minnesota as the Wolves look to get back to the conference finals.
Flanked by players like Julius Randle, Jaden McDaniels, Naz Reid and Rudy Gobert, Edwards still has a strong collection of talent around him. The 23-year-old now has to prove he’s capable of being the leader of the franchise.
