NFL-bound 2022 Heisman winner Caleb Williams is one of the most hyped QB prospects in this year’s draft. After a three-year collegiate stint, the 22-year-old decided to forgo his final year of collegiate eligibility and make the transition to become a professional player.
As Caleb Williams continues to gear up for the upcoming draft, he recently took some time to be a guest on the Pivot Podcast. During the interview, the former USC QB narrated the high school story and the incident that led to him becoming a QB in the game.
Williams talked about his loss to current Louisville QB Harrison Bailey and how he had to play defense as per the wishes of his high school head coach. He said that this defeat was one of the turning points in his life, which led him to make up his mind to become a QB in the game.

“We lost a game to Harrison Bailey”, Williams said. “He was a big phenom quarterback who was a six three already or whatever he is now, six five , and we lost to him. And that loss and the experience I had through that loss, from losing to him but also the coach that I played for, didn’t play me that game because my parents made a decision that we would got to San Antonio a day early.” (9:00)
“So he didn’t play me on offense. I played on defense. and we lost, and they were also playing daddy ball because the QB was also the office coordinator’s son. So it crushed me and that’s what made me switch to QB.”
Caleb Williams further went on to narrate how he then told his dad that he wanted to become a quarterback, which resulted in him becoming who he is known as today.
“I told my dad I never want to have that feeling again. You know, feel like that again. I want to switch to QB and I was crying,crying,crying and he asked me ‘Are you sure?’ And I said yeah”, Williams said.
Caleb Williams builds up hype for draft day suit
Caleb Williams is projected to be the No. 1 pick in this year’s NFL draft by the Chicago Bears. As the day slowly inches closer, the former USC QB is building up the hype surrounding his apparel for the big day.
In a recent tweet on X, William created more suspense surrounding his draft day fit, stating that it will be something that everyone should look forward to. He also said that his fit would be unique and the only one in the world.
