The Texas A&M Aggies face rivals the Texas Longhorns this evening in their first meeting in 13 years. To add more drama to this game, a win for either team will advance them to the SEC Championship game.
Unsurprisingly, the College Game Day panel made predictions around this mouthwatering clash. Former Alabama coach Nick Saban said some nice things about the Aggies before making his pick:
“Of all the places in the SEC, this is the place that I respected most. I respected the tradition, the spirit, and the passion. Coming to play here was the hardest place to play in the SEC. But I’m taking Texas.”

Despite praising the Texas A&M program, he picked the Texas Longhorns, one of the best teams in College Football this season.
Quarterback Quinn Ewers has at his disposal, a selection of strong receivers, including Isaiah Bond and Gunnar Helm to bring the talented Longhorns offense down the field and into the redzone. Running back Jaylen Blue has been a strong substitute for the injured CJ Baxter.
This offense is strong and should be able to break down the Aggies’ highly rated defense and lead Steve Sarkisian’s team to a long-awaited victory over one of their strongest rivals.
Steve Sarkisian says that Texas is going to be “the villain”
However, victory for the Longhorns may be easier said than done for Steve Sarkisian’s team. They are not playing this game at home and will have to go into a very hostile Kyle Field.
Speaking to College Game Day before the game, the Texas coach said:
“You need to embrace the hate. It needs to fuel you, and it’s okay to be the villain. We’re the villain in this movie this week.”
All rivalry games have a hostile atmosphere for the visiting team, where they have to play the villain and try to ruin the home team’s party.
This one will feel like a rivalry game on steroids. The Longhorns and Aggies have not met in 13 years, meaning that anger that has been bubbling away for more than a decade will burst out, creating an electric atmosphere.
With a place in the conference championship game at stake, both sides will know that it is a chance to put on a show that could be recounted for years to come.
